Non-immigrant visa applicants with interview date at Chennai, falling on November 17 or November 18, 2010 have received an eMail from VFS stating that they will either be contacted by VFS to reschedule and the interview to a later date, failing which the applicants will have to do this on their own. The text of this eMail suggests that one does not have to cancel the existing appointment to reschedule the interview date, but they have the option of doing so at their discretion.Clarification Obtained from VFS However, Attorneys at Murthy Immigration Services contacted the VFS helpline and it was clarified that if the applicant has not cancelled and rescheduled an appointment earlier, then they should use this option to cancel the existing appointment and book a new one. However, if the applicant has already cancelled the application once, then they need to contact VFS for help with rescheduling. This information is particularly significant because one is allowed to cancel only twice but on cancelling the application the second time, the PIN is blocked for a period of 90 days – so effectively this option can be used only once! Applicants scheduled for interview on one of these dates are requested to be careful while rescheduling the appointment especially if they have already cancelled once.
