Readers are aware that visa processing worldwide have been disrupted due to technical issues. A recent update on the official website of Bureau of Consular affairs indicates that 39 posts have resumed normal operations worldwide (as of noon on June 23, 2015), accounting for over 2/3rd of the visas processed globally. In India, the posts that have resumed operations include the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and the U.S. Consulates in Chennai and Mumbai. According to this update, the operations are yet to resume at Kolkata and Hyderabad. Priority is given to emergency travel and H2B temporary workers. As of this writing, visa applications in India, approved as on June 17 are still pending issuance. Since all appointments in India for the week from June 22-26 have been cancelled, we expect the pending applications to be approved by the end of this week. This update along with a list of posts that have been restored can be found here.
