Our regular readers may be aware that Optional Delivery of Passport / Documents at Preferred Address or Home Delivery was terminated on November 30, 2013.

We wish to bring the good news that the U.S. consular posts in India have reinstated the delivery of passport to an optional / home delivery, as of August 10, 2017. The applicant must pay an additional fee of INR 500 (Rupees Five Hundred) by cash per passport upon delivery of the passport / document. This update can be found here. Applicant(s) while creating a profile on https://cgifederal.secure.force.com, must select the option “premium delivery service”. The applicant(s) can expect speedy door delivery of the passport with state-of-the-art technology to track the shipment. We understand that delivery is available for most locations in India.

Applicants can still choose to collect the passport / documents from 33 CGI / Blue Dart passport / visa collection locations across India.

We strongly believe that this is a great relief for U.S. visa applicants, as many of them had to travel several miles to collect their passport/document following the visa interview.
