Nonimmigrant visa applicants in India must (1) complete form DS-160 – nonimmigrant visa application, (2) create a profile on www.ustraveldocs.com/in using passport and other personal details and (3) pay the consular/machine readable visa (MRV) fee to either schedule his/her visa interview at one of the consular post or generate the appointment letter for the interview waiver program/dropbox interview as per their eligibility.

We bring to your attention that there is a recent update on www.ustraveldocs.com emphasizing that all nonimmigrant visa applicants must ensure that s/he provides accurate information on their profile and that form DS-160 matches the biographic data in his/her passport. If there are any discrepancies in the biographic information available on the profile, passport and DS-160, the applicant may have to create a new profile and pay a new consular/MRV fee to schedule the visa interview. The consular support desk has issued a new warning on www.ustraveldocs.com which states that the consular/MRV fees are not refundable or transferrable after they are assigned to a particular applicant’s profile. Prior to this warning, applicants were permitted to have these discrepancies rectified by contacting the consular support desk via email to support-india@ustraveldocs.com or by providing feedback from their respective profile.

Additionally, applicants who had previously created a profile with their old passport which has subsequently expired must contact the support desk to have their new passport number linked to their profile. Applicants must send a clear copy of the biographic and observation pages from their old and new passport along with the email to have the profile updated with new passport number.

We urge all nonimmigrant visa applicants to provide accurate and consistent information on the profile and DS-160 in line with the biographic information available on passport.
