The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has recently announced that they are transitioning immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointment scheduling to a new system for U.S. Visa Services in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand starting September 28, 2024. In this article we are sharing some tips for existing and new users of the system.
Existing Users
U.S. visa applicants who have already created a profile under the previous appointment system need to create a new profile using the same email ID used on the prior system. Doing this will:
- Transfer the existing profile to the new system.
- If an appointment was already scheduled, the same will be reflected on the new system and the new appointment letter needs to be downloaded.
- If fee was paid and an appointment was not scheduled, the fee will be transferred to the new system.
- If fee is not automatically transferred, the applicant needs to manually update the payment using payment receipt number and the date of payment.
New Users
Login to the new system from by choosing the appropriate country at www.ustraveldocs.com. All first-time users in the new system need to register and create a profile. By clicking on the “Sign up now” link at the bottom of the login page and follow the instructions.
Premium Delivery Fee
The new premium document delivery and premium document submission charges are applicable effective September 28, 2024, even if one opted for the premium service prior to September 28, 2024.
Conclusion
While it is good to have a uniform application system across all countries, The new visa appointment system is plagued with innumerable bugs. The support system has not been very effective. We truly hope that the system will be streamlined soon.
