Readers of MurthyIndiaDotCom are aware that consular services worldwide were affected for some time on account of a technical glitch which prevented sensitive information from being transmitted. Following this, appointments were cancelled in several consular posts and in India, all non-immigrant visa interviews scheduled between June 22-26 were cancelled. The Bureau of Consular Affairs (U.S. Department of State) has notified that as of June 29, 2015 all the visa issuing posts are back online. The posts worldwide have worked overtime (including weekends) to issue the huge backlog of visas. We understand that most of the visas that were backlogged have been issued now. This update also notifies that they are still experiencing difficulty with some immigrant visas. The official update can be found here.
As of now, we at Murthy Immigration Services Pvt. Ltd. (MISPL) notice that there is higher demand for non-immigrant visa interviews, resulting increased wait time. It is advisable to apply early. We expect this additional traffic to normalize over the next few weeks.
