Non-immigrant visa applicants can choose to hold his / her passport at the VFS location, if their address / pincode is not serviceable by Blue Dart courier service. Previously this option was available only at one of the Blue Dart locations. Applicants can still continue to choose one of the Blue Dart hold at locations if their address is not a deliverable one.

The VFS, Chennai also clarified that if the Blue Dart Courier is unable to deliver the passport to the applicant, on account of the house being locked or the address being incorrect or for any other reason, then Blue Dart will return the undelivered passport(s) to VFS within two weeks. The courier service will try to deliver the passport thrice in a five days window and hold the passport at their location for seven more days before they return the passport to the VFS office. Under these circumstances, the applicant can collect the passport in-person from the respective VFS office with the requisite documents.
