As our readers are aware, CGI Federal Inc. (CGI Federal) collects and processes information from all U.S. visa applicants in support of visa applications. CGI Federal has updated their privacy policy to keep visa applicants informed on how personal information collected from the visa applicant is handled. U.S. visa applicants are aware that personal data and biometrics are directly collected from him/her during the visa application process. During this process, each applicant has to check a box indicating he/she has read and understood the privacy policy, thereby allowing collection, aggregation, use, storage, and disclosure of the personal data submitted and authorizing receipt of electronic communications, including interactive voice response and call center communications, regarding the submission of the visa application.

Although, CGI Federal has implemented appropriate organizational, technical, and physical safeguards to prevent the unauthorized access or disclosure of personal data, the privacy policy also contains a disclaimer that CGI Federal cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties will never be able to defeat those measures and access the personal data for improper purposes.
