This article is with respect to a recent change in the Arrival / Departure formalities for International travelers. International travelers, arriving into India would be familiar with Arrival (Disembarkation) Card and Indian Nationals traveling out of India will be familiar with Departure (Embarkation) card.
With effect from March 1, 2014, Indian Nationals are not required to fill in the Disembarkation (Arrival) card upon landing in India. However, foreign Nationals – including Person of Indian Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) will continue to fill in the Disembarkation card at the time of arrival in India. Prior to this, all international travelers, including Indian Nationals had to complete the Disembarkation card, at the time of arriving in India.
Additionally, with the new system, Foreign Nationals (including PIO and OCI holders) are not required to fill in the Embarkation Card at the time of leaving India. This news release can be found here.
