We had reported earlier that consular posts in India are experiencing longer wait times for visa appointment. A recent update on the official visa information website of the U.S. Mission in India indicates that the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and the four U.S. Consular posts in India have made thousands of extra visa appointments. These additional provisions are available from now through December 2016.  This has been facilitated through a temporary increase in consular staff to reduce the recent long wait time for visa appointments in India.

The update further urges U.S. visa applicants and family members to make use of this limited window of increase appointments. To do this, they may login to their profile and reschedule the appointment to an earlier available date.
