Regular visitors to MurthyIndiaDotCom and subscribers to the MurthyIndiaBulletin will be aware of the new visa application procedure introduced in India, with effect from September 26, 2012. Because any new process will face challenges, in this article, we take a look at some potential pitfalls of the new system that could cause delay in the visa application process. We understand that these fields have been blocked for security reasons.
The new system requires visa applicant(s) to create a profile prior to scheduling a visa interview or paying the visa application fees. While creating the profile, it is important that the applicant or representative takes utmost care in providing the following information about the applicant:
- Passport Number;
- Given and Surname;
- Passport Issuance and expiry date;
- Place of Issuance of passport;
- Date of birth; and
- Upon payment of fee, the fee receipt information (If PIN from HDFC receipt is used).
The above information cannot be modified by the user, and correction of errors in any one of the above fields would require assistance from the helpdesk of ustraveldocs.com/in. Contacting the helpdesk delays the process, because no immediate solution is offered, and resolving problems could take a few days to a few weeks. For correction of errors on the profile or fee receipt information, it takes further time and does not yield the desired result unless there are regular follow-ups. Hence, it is important that applicant(s) or representative(s) exercise caution while creating or updating the profile. It is also important to know that minor errors, should not impact the visa interview and the applicant may just bring this to the attention of the support staff at the time of biometric interview.
Attorneys at Murthy Immigration Services have successfully assisted several applicants to complete the visa application process, and are available for any assistance that may be required with the application process.
