The first step towards applying for a non-immigrant visa interview in India is to pay the applicable U.S. visa application fee and the VFS courier fee at one of the designated HDFC Banks located across metros and major cities in India and obtain the receipt with a bar code as evidence of payment of this fee.
Difficulty Faced By Certain Applicants
Many nonimmigrant U.S. visa applicants hail from towns and villages where the banks do not have this facility to accept the U.S. visa application fees. They sometimes will have to travel several miles to visit the HDFC Bank or find a friend / colleague / relative / representative to do this on their behalf.
No Geographic Restriction
As of this writing, there is no geographic restriction on the HDFC Bank at which the fees can be paid. For example, an applicant located in New Delhi can obtain this by paying fees at one of the designated HDFC banks, located at any metros or major city in India.
