This update is for Blanket L visas.
Applicants who received L1 visa stamping after May 2010 based on approved blanket L petition, should ensure that his/her visa stamping has the proper annotation “Blanket L-1” for the principal beneficiary and “Blanket L-2” for any derivative spouse or child. Moreover the annotation should state the name of petitioner mentioned in I-129S (Nonimmigrant Petition i.e., Blanket L Petition). This policy has been issued by the Department of State in May 2010 since some blanket L visas were annotated with the name of the parent company and not with the petitioner’s name in I-129S. Though this policy was issued for the consulate(s) and embassy, the applicant(s) who had their stamping after May 2010 must get his/her annotation corrected accordingly at the consulate / embassy where the visa was issued.
In general all visa applicants are requested to verify the name, passport number etc., on the visa page once s/he receives the passport.
