Procedure to Collect Passport (Visa) From U.S. Embassy / Consulate(s) in India

Visitors to MurthyIndiaDotCom and other U.S. Visa applicants in India may already be aware that after a successful visa interview, the visa applicant or his/ her representative can collect the passport (Visa) from one of the 33 Stanley/Blue Dart passport collection locations (which includes 11 Visa Application Centers and 22 Blue Dart locations) as chosen by them at the time of scheduling the visa appointment. The passports are available for 14 calendar days at the 11 Visa Application Centers and for 7 working days from the 22 Blue Dart locations.

A common question we receive is, what happens if the applicant is unable to pick up the passport (visa) before the stipulated time?

If the applicant is unable to pick up the passport during this period, the passports are returned to the respective U.S. Embassy / Consulate. The applicant will then have to pick up the passport directly from the Embassy / Consulate. The table below clearly explains the procedure to pick up the returned passport (visa) from each of the 5 consular posts in India:
