The U.S. Consulate, Mumbai was unexpectedly closed on March 15, 2024, owing to accidental damage to water pipelines. Applicants with scheduled interviews with the consular post had to be sent back and were instructed to reschedule their interviews by logging on their profile on https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/en/  on or after March 16, 2024. The system may not have permitted to applicants to reschedule the interview prior to this.

Applicants affected by this cancellation received an email with step-by-step instructions to reschedule, which is shared below:

(1)   Login to your profile https://www.usvisascheduling.com/

(2)   On the home page, select “Start Application”

(3)   Under the visa option page, select Post visa Category as “IV Expedite Cases” and proceed to schedule only a Mumbai consulate appointment (without having to schedule the biometrics interview).

The email instructs applicants that they need not contact the support desk/call center or consulate and that they should simply log in to their profile and schedule only the consular appointment at Mumbai and proceed for the interview at the scheduled date and time.
