With the steep rise in US$ rates, the consulate has revised the exchange rate from Rs. 50 to a US$ to Rs. 52 to a US$. This comes into effect from November 16, 2011. Effectively, the INR equivalent all the non-immigrant and immigrant visa application fee would be affected.
The new non-immigrant visa application fee for petition based visas like H, L would be INR 7,800 per applicant (US$150 x INR 52) and the fee for other non-petition based categories like B, F, M, J would be INR 7,280 (US$ 140 x INR 52). If an applicant purchased the HDFC receipt prior to November 16, 2011 and one year has not elapsed since the date of purchase, s/he can use this to schedule a visa interview.
