With effect from Monday, December 22, 2014 the U.S. consular exchange rate is adjusted to ₹64 to one US$. The consular exchange rate was ₹62 to one US$ prior to this. This revision in the exchange rate will affect the Indian Rupee equivalent for all application fees paid on or after December 22, 2014. The revision will affect all non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications, and American Citizenship services. Effectively, the new non-immigrant visa application fee is ₹10,240 (equivalent to US$160 for non-petition-based visa categories) and ₹12,160 (equivalent to US$190 for petition-based visa categories). Applicants who paid the fees prior to December 22, 2014 can use the respective AXIS / Citibank / NEFT confirmation within one year from the date of payment of the visa application fees.
