On account the COVID-19 outbreak, as most of you are aware, all international travel has been restricted from India. Immigrant visas are generally valid for a period of six months from the date of issue. If the immigrant is unable to travel during the validity of the visa, the visa foil will have to be re-printed.
Once consular services resume, applicants in India may contact the respective consular posts, through the support desk either through the profile on http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/in/ or by email to support-india@ustraveldocs.com. Re-printing of the visas is not automatic. The applicant needs to present supporting documents for the visa to be re-printed. Among other requirements, the medicals, police clearance certificate and health insurance need to be valid. The law requires that all documents be valid when entering the U.S. As of this writing, it is unclear if the documentary requirements will be waived or at least relaxed by the consular posts due to the extraordinary circumstances.
We will monitor and update any developments on this subject. Immigrant visa applicants falling under this category may feel free to schedule a complimentary or free-pre-hire with one of our Attorneys to discuss your situation.
