In general, the nonimmigrant visa interview dates are available within a week in most of the consular posts in India. However, eligible F-1 students or J-1 exchange visitors who cannot secure an early visa interview can request for an expedited visa interview appointment.  This is limited to students or exchange visitors who intend to begin or resume a valid program of study within 60 days and for applicants who have not been refused a visa within the last six months at the U.S. embassy or consulate. Eligible applicants must schedule the regular visa interview on the consular support desk’s portal and then make an online request for expedited appointment by uploading form I-20 or DS-2019 indicating the program start date is within 60 days.
