An update on the U.S. Consular website in India has notified that, beginning August 17, 2020 U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and the consular posts in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata will begin processing student and academic exchange visitor applications on a limited basis.
The notification also indicates that operations will be open in a limited manner, in consultation with the consular health and security professionals to ensure safety of applicants and the consular staff.
The consulate is not yet open for regular appointments. Initially, the consulate will process emergency visa appointment requests from students received prior to August 12, 2020. The notification is clear that the consulate will not be able to accommodate all requests in time for the fall semester.
The visa interview slots will be refreshed once in two weeks and students should not schedule an appointment earlier than three weeks from their class start date.
We urge student visa applicants to login to their profile on http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/in/ and monitor availability of appointments. Attorneys at Murthy Immigrations Services are available for any professional assistance.
