U.S. Consulate, Chennai’s support desk for unresolved cases has been discontinued

When the new visa processing system was introduced in September 2012, U.S. Visa Application Center (formerly Offsite Facilitation Centre) – VAC was appointed as sole call center for all U.S. Consular posts in India to handle / resolve any visa related queries. 

The only exception was with the U.S. Consular post in Chennai. They continued to offer a direct phone number to speak to a consular information unit under limited circumstance, such as when an applicant is unable to obtain clarity even after contacting the VAC support desk. This facility was very useful, especially for applicant(s) stuck with INA 221(g) processing in Chennai, India. However, this facility has been recently discontinued and the applicants will no longer have direct access with any consular post(s) in India. Applicants should contact the call centers by dialing +91 120 4844644 or +91 40 46258222 (from India) and +1 703 520 2239 (from U.S).
