A recent update on the U.S. Visa Application Center indicates that non-immigrant visa sections at all U.S. Consular posts in India will remain closed on September 11, 2014. This will affect  non-immigrant U.S. visa appointments scheduled for this day.

Biometrics Completed

If an applicant’s visa appointment is scheduled for September 11, 2014 and his/her biometrics appointment is already completed, s/he needs to contact the U.S. Visa Application Center on support-india@ustraveldocs.com and request them to unlock the appointment. Following this, s/he will have to schedule both the biometric and visa appointment afresh.

Pending Biometrics

If an applicant’s visa interview is scheduled for September 11, 2014 and the biometrics is not yet completed, then s/he should immediately login to the profile on www.ustraveldocs.com/in and cancel the existing appointment and schedule a new appointment for both the biometrics and the visa interview.

Not Spam eMail

We have been contacted by  applicants with apprehension that the email from ustraveldocs.com intimating about the change is schedule is spam. This is because the subject indicated that consulate will remain closed in November and the body of the eMail provided correct information. We wish to clarify that this seems to be an inadvertent error from the help-desk and applicants with interview scheduled for September 11, 2014 will in fact have to reschedule the appointment.

Information on the change in schedule can be found here.
