Regular readers of MurthyIndiaBulletin and MurthyIndiaDotCom are aware that both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa applicants must attend a biometrics appointment at the Visa Application Center (VAC) prior to their visa interviews. Generally, applicants are allowed to join the queue 15-minutes prior to their scheduled biometrics appointment. Applicants who arrive much earlier than their scheduled appointment times often mistakenly believe that by arriving early, they may be allowed to enter the VAC ahead of their scheduled interview. The VAC Chennai has placed a signboard on the footpath leading to the VAC, clearly indicating the next appointment time to avoid confusion and reduce congestion in the queue. It will be prudent for the applicants to follow the instructions on the visa appointment letter and the display board to help streamline this process.
