An update on the VFS website indicates that with effect from November 20, 2010 the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and the U.S. Consulates in Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Calcutta would collect an additional fee of US$ 2,000 for certain H1-B and $ 2,500 for L1-A and L1-B petitions which are covered by the provisions of Public Law 111-230. The additional fee is applicable if the petitioner employs more than 50 employees and out of this, 50% of the employees are on H1-B or L1-A, L1-B or L-2 status. This fee has to be borne by the Petitioner / Employer. However, the update does not clarify this specifically.
This fee is in addition to the $500 Fraud Detection and Prevention Fee and the Visa application for of US$ 150 and this update can be found here
